Alexandrine "I cannot believe those girls! How could they say such horrible things?! They will be punished and taught to respect others..." Alexandrine felt the passion she usually only felt around training time for The Games well up inside her. It was extinguished, though, when she saw Peregrine slump to the floor in a teary mess.
"Peregrine, dear..." Her inner "Mother Hen" was coming out in full force. She knelt down beside the sobbing girl and placed a hand on her shoulder gently.
"Bullying is not tolerated here at my Academy, and I'm sorry if this has gone unaddressed for some time, as I suspect it might have. Those girls will certainly be taught a lesson." She waited for any sort of response from her student, hoping that she would recover soon and come back to class.

Peregrine sniffled, wiping a tear from her eye with the back of her hand. 'They should be,' she mumbled softly. She glanced up at Alexandrine, her eyes showing discomfort. 'But, you won't make me go back in there?' her eyes were almost imploring, begging the headmistress not to make her.

The Professor was relieved to hear her pupil speak, but then saddened when she asked to not go back to class.
She took a breath in, and decided in an instant. "Since you were doing so well before you were... interrupted, you may go for today. But I do expect to see you in class tomorrow. In the mean time, I will have a little 'chat' with the class." She patted Peregrine's shoulder and stood up. Looking back down at Peregrine, she offered her hand to help the girl up and smiled.

Peregrine looked at the outstretched hand and shook her head. 'No, I think I'm fine,' she said as she stood up, brushing off her pants whilst doing so. 'Maybe..I will come back to class,' she said sheepishly, 'but..I don't want everyone to be all over me.'

"I'll make sure they stay away physically, verbally, and magically." Alexandrine nodded as she turned to go back to the classroom. "After all, they could face expulsion if they act up again." She smiled back at her pupil.
Once they reached the classroom, Alexandrine opened the door slowly. The chatter died out and all heads turned towards her. "Class, we need to talk," she said in a low tone that wasn't quite so dangerous as before.
The Professor ushered Peregrine into the room, and scanned the room for any malignant reactions. One of the bullies narrowed her eyes at Peregrine, and found herself doused again.
"Bullying will not be tolerated here at Yunaria. We are here to learn and make friends - allies - not to torment each other. Bullying is grounds for expulsion, so be glad I'm giving you a second chance. After all, it would be disgraceful to one's family if one were kicked out of school on the first day; or any day, for that matter. This is a critical year for you all, and I need to commence the search for our school's champions soon."
She let her words sink in for a moment, then nodded at Peregrine. Her look said non-verbally, "Are you OK?"

Peregrine nodded gently then returned to her seat, her head directed at the floor.

Quyen had over time realized that she was meant to be on the of the last people to her class. She would take her time walking to her designated class, letting others instead choose their seats and her having the last. She had few friends within the school due to her 'obsession' as her brother had put it, and of the friends she did have none of them practiced in illusions. It wasn't a loss to her at all, knowing that instead it meant there was no competition from the friends she had, something she knew would ruin her friendships.
So instead, she got to class late and took the last open spot. Often it was one close to the front of the room. While she never understood why people would prefer to sit in the back, she was more than thrilled every time to have a seat close to the front even with her late entrance.
When the teacher, Dr. Anisim she recalled, gave the assignment she sat stunned for a moment. While illusions called for a certain amount of imagination, mixed in with the talent to execute the idea, creating an entire story for a person had never been required. While others dug their pencils and notebooks out to start the assignment, Quyen took a moment to study the man in front of her. Glancing around the room, she noticed a top hat hanging near the door, something that could only be the teachers.
Pretentious was the first word that came to mind, but for an assignment that a teacher would read, about himself none the less, Quyen quickly shook the idea from her head. Pulling her notebook out of her bag she flipping open an empty page reconsidering her options. Dr. Anisim reminded her vaguely of her brother, proper, but relaxed and silly. With the thought in mind, she began to write... "Far off in a foreign land there was a boy. The boy was always lost in thought, day dreaming, and knowing that something, somewhere, would feed his imagination. Until he knew what it was, the boy turned to making everything else he touched imaginative and unusual, fighting to make his imagination the strongest in the land..."

The heat of the situation wearing off, Peregrine found herself becoming impatient with class. Her tears now dry and her face less red, she began to scribble down words again, even though there was no instruction from the professor.

((OMG, I am so sorry for disappearing! I broke my own rule. >< I feel so horrible! D'8 OK, time to make up for it with an awesome post, right? XD;;; ))
Prof. Alexandrine Just as she was about to give the class further instruction, the bell rang that signaled the end of the day. "I- Oh, well, OK then. Before you leave, though," she raised the volume of her voice a bit, and her students turned to look at her, "I would like you all to practice your form, like we were doing today. Get more in touch with the water powers within you." While it wasn't formal homework, she knew those students who were dedicated would indeed practice.
As the students filed out, Alexandrine found Peregrine. "Would you please accompany me to my office?"
Prof. Anisim "Time is up." He announced simply. The sound of writing utensils slowed, and once the last pupil put their pen down, the Professor stood up gracefully and collected all the papers. He took his time in picking them up, accomplishing two things at once: creating suspense for the class (something he greatly enjoyed doing), and, more importantly, sensing the illusion magic that his students had unknowingly poured into their works.
By having them write a work of fiction and getting their minds working in overdrive due to the time constraint, the magic would flow from their soul, down the pen, and into the paper.
"I will read these tonight, and announce the winner tomorrow." He announced calmly, though the first part of that statement was false - he would not be reading them, for one paper emitted more magic than he'd felt from a student in a long time, and that student was undoubtedly the winner - and his first choice for a champion from Malefinix.

Peregrine's heart leapt into her throat. She tried to stammer out an answer, a question, but her dry mouth and tongue refused to reply. Standing up, she gathered her array of books, several papers floating to the ground as her shaking hands attempted to grab them. Thoughts floated around in her head at a furious pace, Did I do something wrong? Am I to be expelled? . But she shuffled to the front of the room, her eyes cast to the floor. 'You wanted to speak to me, professor?' she asked timidly.

Prof. Alexandrine "Yes, let's walk over to my office, shall we?" The Professor finished packing her things in her leather bag, and hefted it onto her shoulder. "Come with me," she said genially to the obviously terrified student. She smiled sweetly to let Peregrine know that all was fine, but she did not say anything else, for she did not want to ruin the surprise.

Peregrine mumbled something incoherent. The smile had lifted her spirits a bit, but she was always cautious about such things. How could she be sure that Alexandrine was being nice now so it wouldn't hurt so much in the future? Still, she followed the headmistress into her office, her eyes downcast the whole way.

Prof. Alexandrine Once they reached her office door, Alexandrine opened it for her student and ushered her in. "Please, have a seat." The professor motioned at one of two plush leather chairs on one side of the polished wood desk.
The office itself was a good size - not too small, but not too big as to seem intimidating. Alexandrine had decorated it richly in purple, greens, and browns. Overall, the room gave off a homey feeling.
Alexandrine took her seat behind her desk and leaned forward. "You are special, Peregrine."
She let the words sink in for a moment, watching Peregrine's face and body language.
